Building the commercial backbone behind a growing technology business.
Over a three-year engagement, the work evolved far beyond individual contracts or supplier renewals. It became embedded commercial support across transformation, strategic suppliers, complex negotiations, governance and leadership decision-making, with measurable value delivered alongside it.
Commercial complexity had outgrown the structure around it.
CV-Library was operating across an increasingly complex mix of technology, SaaS, strategic suppliers and transformation activity. Commercial decisions cut across Finance, Technology, Marketing and operational teams, often carrying implications well beyond price alone.
The opportunity was to create more structure around those decisions: stronger commercial challenge, clearer contractual positions, better visibility of commitments and a more joined-up approach to negotiations, supplier selection and transformation programmes.
Not a procurement exercise. An embedded commercial function.
The engagement sat at the point where commercial, financial, contractual and operational decisions met, giving leadership and functional teams senior commercial support when the stakes were highest.
Value created. Value protected.
Direct savings were only one part of the outcome. Across the engagement, value was also created or protected through avoided cost, stronger enterprise terms, supplier concessions, contractual restructuring, improved termination and renewal positions and better commercial decision-making.
Hard savings, avoided cost, commercial concessions and stronger economic outcomes.
Commercial leadership across major technology and operational change, from partner selection through contracting and governance.
Stronger terms, greater flexibility and protection against punitive commitments, lock-in and material commercial exposure.
The c.£1.5m figure reflects total commercial benefit delivered or protected across the three-year engagement. It includes c.£300k of directly quantifiable savings alongside other evidenced commercial outcomes and value protection.
Close enough to the detail to protect the business. Senior enough to steer the decision.
Over the engagement, the role became a dependable extension of the leadership team, providing commercial and contractual judgement on issues that did not sit neatly within one function. Leaders were supported through complex negotiations, contractual challenges, supplier disputes and material business decisions with a clear view of value, leverage and exposure.
The work combined value creation with protection. Terms and conditions were challenged before commitment, enterprise agreements and renewal mechanics were scrutinised, and stronger guardrails were built around liability, IP, warranties, termination, pricing and long-term obligations.
Commercially stronger than where it started.
The clearest result was not one negotiation or one saving. It was a more deliberate commercial approach around important business decisions, with stronger challenge, greater visibility and senior commercial support across areas that previously sat between functions.
The measurable value is the proof. The broader outcome was the commercial structure, judgement and protection built around it.
